Life as a one week old
Emery Kate is doing so great! She really is a great baby...a good sleeper and eater, what more could I ask for?? Here are some cute new pictures of her. One of the pictures shows her in the "miracle blanket". It is a blanket that really keeps them swaddled at night and it has been awesome for her. It does seem like we are putting her in a straight jacket, but it works! It was recommended by her pediatrician! My friend Marci has a funny blog about the miracle blanket b/c her son is almost 5 months now and it isn't really holding him anymore. But, it works great for now!
There is also a picture of her and her friend Audrey. They had their first "play date" today going on a walk to Starbucks. Don't they look like they were having fun together?
Mary B...hope you are enjoying the pics! Emery can't wait to meet you!!!!

Family
I am at home eagerly awaiting Emery's arrival and I started looking at some pictures from this summer and fall of my family. I love my family. I feel so blessed by my family. I was looking at these pictures and realizing how much our family has been through since they were taken. I see my mom and all the pictures of her with jayden and my heart remembers finding out over Christmas that she has alzheimer's. My mom is the most amazing woman in the world. I am certain of it. She loves people like no one else and the news of her diagnosis was more than I could handle at first. Now, I am trusting the Lord for healing and she is doing so great! It is so wonderful to see...I can't wait to see her with Emery and all her other future grandchildren b/c I know she will love them so much and they will love her...
I see pictures of my dad. My heart is filled with PRAISE to the Lord for us finding out about all of his occluded arteries from a cath and not after he had dropped from a heart attack running or something like that. It was hard to see my dad in the hospital as a patient and weak. He is one of the strongest people I know. He is so committed to everything he does....his wife, his children, his family, his work, his church, his friends, his hobbies. He is one who takes full advantage of LIFE and so it is so weird to see him have to halt everything on the road to recovery. I am so thankful that he is improving each day and to see what all the Lord teaches him and us through this process. He and my mom have really had to depend on each other this year. It is a beautiful thing.
I see pictures of MB and it just makes me miss her! She has been in Italy since January and I miss her so much! I love her and can't wait to hug her...we have been through so much with her away. I love my sisters.
I love Christy. She is the oldest of the kids and always the strong one in these hard situations. When things are hard I just cry...she is always so strong. Christy just found out yesterday that she has to be on bedrest the rest of her pregnancy (she is 29 weeks). Her cervix is already shortening and the chance for preterm labor is very high, so she has to do something very hard for her...stay at home and rest. She is a go getter and she has one of the most active 21 month olds you will meet. I know this is going to be so hard for her, it breaks my heart. But, I am so thankful they caught this when they did. She would have kept running going and who knows when she would have gone into labor. Pray for her and Jordan and Jayden during this time. I am so thankful for my sisters.
Thankfully, Jason and Alex are doing well...I love them so much too! I feel so blessed to live close to Jason and Alex. They are so fun to be with and I just love how Jason has really encouraged us all spiritually through these last few months. He is quick to send an email or encouragement to all of us. Thank you Bud...I love you.
Blake, thank you for being such a loving and supportive husband through all of this. I know it has been hard on you too b/c you love my family so much too. I can't wait for Emery to come and for us to start our own family! What a heritage we come from....thanks mom and dad and thanks paul, debbie and cindy.
sorry this is so long...just random thoughts on this rainy day as I am about to POP!

Sick Dogs
This has been a hectic week in the Marable household. It started Sunday morning when we woke up to throw up in the kennel. There were a few more episodes during the day and we thought it was Abby who was sick. Then I noticed Hank was acting very lethargic and that night I went to feed them and he didn't even move at the sound of food hitting his bowl! If you know Hank, he LOVES to eat and so we knew something was wrong. That next day he was still throwing up and not eating. We had him sleep in the bathroom and I checked on him periodically throughout the night. He wasn't getting better so I took him to the vet on tuesday where we found his weight had dropped from 67 lbs in October to 50lbs!!! He looked so thin, you can see in the picture how thin he looks in his backside. Well, they gave him lots of fluid and antibiotics and sent him home....although they wanted to hospitalize him overnight. We were begging him to eat and drink. It was awful. I had to go to work the next day and I was crying to my friends over it...I am ridiculous. It is hard having a sick dog b/c they are like a baby and can't tell you what hurts! I am thankful to have friends who don't make fun of me for being so attached to a dog!
well, blake went home wednesday and we were able to get him to eat some deli turkey meat! It was so great! Slowly his energy has come back and he ate like himself tonight! We are thrilled. But....Abby wouldn't eat tonight and we just found that she threw up! So, who knows we may have another sick dog on our hands!!! We think Abby made herself throw up because she saw all the extra attention we gave Hank! We are exhausted parents :)
It is so sweet, though, because our work Bible study meets at my house on Mondays and so everyone saw Hank and knew he looked horrible. They all were telling me that he definitely needed to go to the vet. The next day you would have thought I had a sick kid in the hospital from all their calls and text messages! Hank is so loved....it was so sweet! If only he knew all the people who cared for him!

The nursery is coming along!!!
The nursery is coming along! My dad built the crib and it looks so great! He did such an amazing job! Thank you Dad!!! I will always treasure it!
I still need to organize everything, but the big parts of the nursery are finished! yea! It makes me so excited for Emery to be here! As you can tell, the dogs are so intrigued by the nursery. We don't really let them in very often b/c we would like the room to be dog hair free for at least a day when Emery comes home! Sorry Hank! Blake and I love sitting in the room and getting excited about her arrival! Enjoy the pics!!
